4 32 Paulus et al4 observed an inverse correlation between the decrease in segmental stroke work and their index of the upward shift of the diastolic pressure-segment length relation during pacing-induced ischemia in dogs. More recently, Bronzwaer et al32 observed a positive correlation between percent shortening of an ischemic segment and their index of the upward shift of the diastolic pressure–radial length relation during coronary occlusion in humans.
