Thanks for your comment. Not that it matters to be first, but I've met the Shireys and toured their house. It's actually in Bellevue, not Seattle, and from what they told me, they weren't able to achieve net-zero-energy. It's a very cool house.
There is no such thing as a Zero Energy Design® "stock house plan. " Every one in a different area requires location-specific detailed computer modeling for the climatic conditions, available sunshine, orientation, building shape, windows, budget, and goals of the owner. A well-designed truly "zero energy" building for Calgary Canada would NOT work well in Orlando Florida or Sydney Australia.
