Certification: Participants are required to pass both written and practical examinations to obtain WAFA and CPR certification. Successful course completion earns you a WMI Adult & Child CPR certification and a WMI Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification. Both certifications are current for two years. Recertification: This course may also be used to recertify Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only) certifications.
Wilderness First Responder Training – Wilderness Advanced First.
We are a contributor and signatory to the Wilderness First Aid Scope of Practice document. Our Wilderness First Aid certifications are accepted by the American Camping Association for camp programs that are close to standard EMS assistance and by the Boy Scouts of America, including Philmont Scout Ranch. Unless stated otherwise in the course description, Wilderness CPR certification is not included. The Wilderness Medicine Training Center is the only wilderness medicine provider who offers both standard and hybrid Wilderness First Aid courses using teaching and learning strategies that inform one another. The result is a choice of format and pedagogy that meets your needs; either course may be used to recertify Wilderness Advanced First.
Certifications are valid for three years. Students should retake the WFA course or consider upgrading to the Wilderness Advanced First.
