The Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners was created in 1983 as the Texas Advisory Board of Occupational Therapy, administered by the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. The board licenses occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants; monitors occupational therapy services to ensure compliance with the Texas Occupational Therapy Title Act; investigates complaints and imposes disciplinary actions; and establishes criteria for continuing education requirements for licensed occupational therapists.
