Repatriation Private Patient Scheme (RPPS) The scheme in place in States and Territories where the Repatriation Private Patient Principles apply.
The Repatriation Private Patient Scheme (RPPS) provides acute hospital care for veterans or war widows and widowers in local facilities. Under the scheme, you may be admitted directly to a local public hospital, former Repatriation Hospital (RH) or a contracted Private Tier 1 Veteran Partnering (VP) hospital, as a private patient, in a shared ward, with a doctor of your choice.
The Repatriation Private Patient Scheme (RPPS) provides care in public hospitals, former repatriation hospitals and selected private hospitals for eligible veterans, war widows and widowers. DVA will pay for hospital treatment and associated medical fees (non-medical expenses) for all medical conditions and in all hospitals for DVA Gold Card holders. For White Card holders, DVA will pay all hospital and medical treatment for war or service-caused accepted disabilities (non-medical expenses may not be included), and the treatment of malignant cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) if these conditions are accepted by DVA.
The Repatriation Private Patient Scheme enables eligible veterans to be treated as private patients at the public or private hospital of their choice. Not all veterans are eligible for treatment under the Scheme and eligibility must be established before treatment occurs.
