Two 1993 studies examined the effects of withdrawing digoxin therapy in patients with heart failure. The Randomized Assessment of Digoxin on Inhibitors of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (RADIANCE) trial7 and the Prospective Randomized Study of Ventricular Failure and the Efficacy of Digoxin (PROVED) trial8 studied patients with mild to moderate heart failure in normal sinus rhythm.
