The least-understood aspect of nuclear structure is how nucleoskeletal proteins interact with chromatin. However, several nucleoskeletal proteins, including lamin A, titin and barrier-to-autointegration factor (BAF) bind directly to chromatin via DNA or specific histones, and this may be important for genome organization and regulation. The nuclear envelope protein emerin associates directly with lamins and with nuclear membrane proteins, including nesprin 1 (nuclear envelope spectrin-repeat protein 1), nesprin 2, SUN (Sad1 and UNC-84) domain-containing 1 (SUN1) and SUN2.
The PIC forms after uncoating of a viral particle after entry into the host cell. In the case of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the PIC forms after the Reverse Transcription Complex (RTC) has reverse transcribed the viral RNA code into DNA code. The PIC consists of viral proteins (including Vpr, matrix and integrase), host proteins (including Barrier to autointegration factor.
