Four new members have been appointed to the Australian Biotechnology Advisory Council.
20 March - Commonwealth Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources and Chair of the Commonwealth Biotechnology Ministerial Council, Ian Macfarlane has announced the establishment of the Australian Biotechnology Advisory Council. The council, which will advise the Government on priority issues in biotechnology, comprises of nine biotechnologists, and will be headed by Professor John Hearn - Vice Chancellor (Research) at the Australian National University.
The Hon Ian Macfarlane, MP, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources has just announced that Professor Tony Weiss been appointed to the Australian Biotechnology Advisory Council. The Council provides five Australian Government Ministers with high-level independent advice on the role of government, industry and research on biotechnology development in Australia. Its priority issues in biotechnology include research and development, international links, commercialisation, public interest and ethics.
