Tseten Lepcha, working president of the Affected Citizens of Teesta, welcomes the clear verdict of the meeting in a press statement released on May 13, anticipating that it would bring unity and peace and "usher in lasting prosperity more than what the mostly failed and destructive hydro projects can". Finally, Tseten Lepcha affirms his optimism that "this decision will go a long way in protecting the sanctity of Dzongu as enshrined in the old laws of Sikkim and protected by the article 371(f) of the Constitution of India.
