Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)-activated kinase 1 (TAK1) is a member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase family and a serine/threonine protein kinase. 1, 2, 3, 4 TAK1 functions as an upstream signaling molecule of NF-κB and MAPKs in proinflammatory signals transduced by TNF-α, IL-1β, and Toll-like receptor (TLR) ligands.
