January is Adopt-a-Rescued-Bird Month. Many people may not realize that along with the large number of dogs, cats, and other animals that enter shelters, many birds do too. Each year thousands of birds are relinquished to shelters when their owners decide they no longer want them or cannot take care of them properly.
You probably didn’t know this, but January is National Adopt a Rescued Bird month, a great time to bring a new feathered friend into your home. There are thousands of abandoned, homeless birds in need of adoption, and with the aid of the Internet, you can actually see and learn about them without ever leaving your house.

The Junior Volunteers worked together this past Saturday in recognition of Adopt a Rescued Bird Month to help our avian species at the CCSPCA. They made a bird adoption poster, decorative bird hanging cut-outs for our Adoption Center, bird feeders, and bio cards for our birds in order to promote their adoption. The Junior Volunteers also learned about different local birds and the care involved in having a pet bird.
